These are selective illustrations from my thesis output, Bakit Naglaho ang Buwan? (translates to “Why has the moon disappeared?”)
It’s a children’s storybook about moon eaters: creatures from Philippine Lower Mythology that are said to devour the moon, causing what we now know as an eclipse.
The featured moon eaters are Bakunawa (the fish), Laho (the dragon), and Minokawa (the bird).
